Modern society is facing energy crisis driven by depletion of fossil fuel due to ever-increasing energy demand and climate change. In order to tackle these problems, apart from existing fossil fuel and nuclear power energy, much attention has been paid for the development of Sustainable Energy & Environment that meet the growing energy demand without causing significant environmental pollution.
Energy/Environmental Fusion Technology is a new multidisciplinary that encompasses basic science (chemistry/physics/biology) and engineering (material/chemical) aiming for a variety of energies such as New & Renewable Energy, Bioenergy, Waste Energy and related Environmental Issues as major research subjects. Specifically, Biorefinery, Nanobio Material, Energy Reaction Engineering, Nanoenergy Materials, Energy Catalytic Materials, Functional Organic Materials, and related Smart Technologies are of interest.
Intensive collaborative research work and interdisciplinary education are highly required for achieving global leading Energy Fusion Technology that covers all aspect of Nanotechnology (NT), Biotechnology (BT) and Energy/Environmental Technology (ET), and related Information/Communication Technology (ICT), which are the main objectives of Department of Energy Science and Technology (DEST) at Myongji University.
